Assessments: Students are assessed by success on games on the "Making Compound Words" page. Games can be played in whole group, small group, or individually.
Student Outcomes (Exemplars): Students are introduced to what a compound word is and they then practice making and breaking compound words.
Procedure: This can be done as a whole group as a projected screen or on a Smartboard. First, click on the "Compound Words" button and watch a video on what a compound word is. Next, choose "Making Compound Words" page and practice making and breaking compound words on each of the game links.
Specific inquiry/activity: Learning about "Compound Words".
Instructional Modifications: This site can be used to introduce the concept of compound words. It can also be used as a review and/or reinforcement of the concept.
Time Required: The time required varies depending on whether the activity is conducted by whole group, small group or independently.
Resources (materials): Computer with internet access. Optional: Smartboard or projector for computer.
